So Spill the Beans, Brothers: Were There More or Fewer At this Year's Bore-Fest
by steve2 inthe jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.
that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.
i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?

FAR less people at mine this year. Last year both back schools were completely full. This year the auditorium had lots of room, one back school contained the DFed ones.
And wow, was it ever boring. And how happified we were to have a regular meeting the night after! I think I've had my fill of meetings for a few weeks at least.

by Jon Preston ini want to see and hear peoples views on what we have seen.
i, personally, think it has been fantastic.
i hear many complain its not informative enough or its sugar coated or whatever but i think its brilliant for the mere fact that its dumbed down for us lamen folk...my wife still doesnt get some of it and i agree...but that, for me, shows how comex real life is....its not easy as many religionists believe.....

Sex really that bad?
by Batman89 ini was just thinking randomly.
why/how are sexual desires really that much of a sin??.
sexual energy is one of the highest forms of energies known, why would god put this strong desire in us only to have us repress it through his"word the bible"??.
-
Captain Obvious
We have evolved sexual desire and pleasure to help grow the human race. People with a tendency to enjoy sex happened to have more children. Voila!
Religions put feelings of guilt around sex to try and control their members. It's not just bible-reading religions. It's all of them.

A little over 2 years so far... Still trying to help the wife out of the org. It is coming along, but slowly.
I feel like a piece of shit as I walk through those doors. I'm not being true to myself or honest with those around me.
Dont know how much more of this I can handle.

Captain Obvious
Welcome batman89!
Thats great that you were able to wake up with your parents. I'm sure most of us on this board would swap places with your situation in a second. My advice - make sure she has your contact info while you go out and live your life in your fade and after. You need to get your space. If you got anything through to her, she will wake up eventually. And she will be looking for support.
Also, I think it is morally incumbent upon you to share the story of how your family woke up.. If and when you're ready.
Fele free to PM me anytime, we're close to the same age.
good luck

Is the U.N. preparing to attack Religion
by confusedandalone inabout 5 minutes ago i get an article emailed to me from my mother telling me that i need to find a way to get back to jehovah and his saving arm... she read an article in a reputable newspaper that all the friends are using to show that its not just jehovahs witnesses who see religion about to get attacked by the u.n.. it concludes with a link to the article and her desire for me to please read it in light of my recent situation.. .
here is the article http://www.examiner.com/article/is-the-un-preparing-to-attack-religion.
the writer bill underwood is a jehovah's witness.
-
Captain Obvious
what proof do we have that Bill Underwood is a JW?
That info will be questioned immediately if brought up as Defense to this article by JWs.
im not casting doubt on you, tech49. I just can't bring up your personal testimony to a jw and expect them to consider it credible.

Premarital sex--how prevalent?
by wafflesandpancakes inin my old congregation, everyone seems clean.
mostly chaste courtship, kingdom hall wedding, blah blah.. well there are lots of cases of fondling but they were soon forgotton.
when my husband and i confessed to sex before marriage, the elders were disgusted.

SECRET SIGN FOR FADERS
by Bob_NC infaders need a secret sign to use at the khall.
the thought came to me after reading replies to datadogs post on stopping singing at the meetings.. i can suggest a few secret signs for faders to use and to look for at the khall, but it would be better that current meeting attenders make suggestions here.
if readers on this site can agree to a secret sign to use at the meetings, just imagine the power that would have at your kingdom hall.

Never singing along, never opening your bible, not closing your eyes for prayers, coming late, leaving early, never going in service, going to less than half the meetings, never commenting, never giving talks, gently shaking your head while you make a disgusted face at the speaker, whispering to your wife/husband about what bullshit this guy is spewing.
All those things.
At at least that's what I do.
